Bio
Anastasia DiFonzo (she/her) is a three-time Best of the Net nominee, and has been published in New Contrast Literary Journal, Olney Magazine, Kalopsia Literary Journal, and more.
DiFonzo is the author of chapbooks A Certain Serenity (Puna Press, 2022) and Girl. (Gnashing Teeth Publishing, 2024), and is in the process of working on her first full-length poetry collection. While her chapbooks explore themes of trauma and girlhood respectively, this full-length collection delves even further into both of those themes, in addition to parent-child dynamics, mental health, body image, and—perhaps most importantly—how all of that relates to living in this flesh.
DiFonzo’s poetry career began viscerally; her goal in writing was to excavate old, buried wounds, and very little beyond that. The priority was to speak the unspeakable and shine light on what was once hidden. In growing both as a poet and a human, DiFonzo has learned not only to write more accurately about those wounds, but, slowly, to begin the journey of tending to them. Her words, while still bold and honest, now shift the focus to softness and healing.
DiFonzo lives in Oakland, California with her fiancé. When she’s not writing, she can be found sipping coffee with her cats.
